Boomers are such a terrible generation. They are all about themselves - everything must belong to them - including the fruits of the work of the younger ones. There are countless stories about this and I will add one to the mosaic.

In a certain climbing area, only the routes set up by boomers are allowed, because it is officially forbidden to set up any new routes for the sake of "protecting the nature". OK then - all the old routes do not damage the nature in any way, but should you have an idea to set up a new one between them, this new route would certainly damage the nature a lot for some reason - probably because it would damage the ego of boomers and since they feel like they are the world, it would damage the world and the world includes the nature, so the nature would be damaged, too.

For boomers, this is the common pattern - elevate themselves by all means under the guise of some holy ideal.

This is demonstrated by the fact that some daring privileged millenial dared suggest that a new route could be set up next to another old route and somehow, boomers gracefully allowed it, because he happened to have "the right acquaintances" and he made this request right before an official climbing guide for that crag was about to come out, so they could make it look like the route had already existed a long time before, so of course, the route was not attributed to him in the climbing guide - how could it?

And all the other younger climbers willing to set some route up can just go screw themselves - they are just not allowed to do so. Even the mentioned privileged brat who managed to get away with adding one poor route under the right circumstances did not manage to have this route attributed to him. How could the others even dare to set some route up? Boomers are too proud for this - with the glare of their names shining from the official climbing guide, they will eagerly saw off any bolts sticking out just a few meters away from their routes in the name of protecting the nature!
